Did you vote in your last election? High abstention rates, a loss of trust in democratic Institutions, and growing political polarization – democracy faces many challenges today. For some, more direct citizen engagement is the solution. But is this the fix we need?

Citizens become part of the explicit decision-making process by participating in referendums, being part of consultations, or directly voting for different policies. On the other hand, some argue that this would increase the gap between already engaged and passive citizens.

Together with you, we will take a dive into the world of deliberative democracy and analyze an in-between solution: Citizen consultations.
